IBA-“U” and Student Silver Dome Awards
IBA-“U” will join IBA2024 on October 8 at ISU’s Bone Student Center in Normal, Illinois. Winners of the IBAcademics Student Silver Dome Awards will be announced as part of the event.

9:00 AM – HYBRID NEWS SESSION with Mike Castellucci
Mike Castallucci, an Edward R. Murrow and Emmy award winner, discusses the issues in the news and the power of storytelling for student journalists. Since 2016, Mike has served as a Professor of Practice and Artist in Residence at Michigan State University.
10:15 AM – STUDENT MEDIA OUTLETS REPORT
Students from each campus will report out on their media successes and challenges. This session will offer another opportunity for networking among students.
11:30 AM – STUDENT SILVER DOME AWARDS LUNCHEON
1:15 PM – MEDIA ROUNDTABLE EXERCISE
Students will take seats following lunch at a table with a professional mentor and use the session to get their questions answered.
2:45 PM – PANEL: THE EVOLUTION OF NEW MEDIA with Moderator, Nora Baldner (Quincy University)
Students will hear from and have the opportunity to question our panelists.
Panelists include: Professor Carolyn Kmet, Northwestern University—Social Media; Andrew Finlayson, EVP of Digital & AI Strategies at SmithGeiger; and Pat Whalen, Host of Good Evening with Pat Whalen
